Who are we?
Harmoni is a nationally-based non-profit music therapy center dedicated to helping those who have suffered severe trauma to find their inner peace through music. Our services include in person music therapy (individually or group), benefit concert events, and a variety of music workshops and lessons. Harmoni aims to make our services as accessible to all as possible, so we do offer online services as well as in person services.
Our History
Before I could even walk, I have always been entranced by music. I refused to sleep without hearing my favorite Mozart and Beethoven songs loop on the Baby Einstein CDs as I drifted off into a peaceful night's sleep. When I was eleven, I began my career as a musician, and now twelve years later, I'm still pursuing that passion as a violinist and pianist. Growing up, I had many supporters, my grandfather being one of my biggest ones. A quiet, soft spoken, and sweet man, he truly loved music. He was always humming, singing and tapping along to every beat. For many years, he suffered from dementia and recently passed due to this disease. As he struggled through Dementia, there was always one thing that eased his mind: music. My sister and I would play for him, and it always put the biggest smile on his face and a light of life into his eyes. He even remembered many words and melodies to his favorite songs. Seeing and experiencing the positive impact that music has had on people not only with dementia, but also PTSD and several traumas, has led me to create a space for those who are suffering to find themselves and their healing again through the beauty of music.
